Passport Application for an Adult

NEW PASSPORT APPLICATION FOR AN ADULT

  1. Documents plus photocopies to be produced in person;

(i)            Birth Certificate (long Birth Certificate)

(ii)           National Identity Card (Driver’s Licence Not Accepted)

(iii)          Marriage Certificate/National Identity Card in Married Name/Divorce Order

(iv)         Two Passport Colour Photographs (Size 3.5 x 4.5cm)

(v)          Citizenship Certificate (For Citizens by Registration)

(vi)         Old Passport or Emergency Travel Document/s if any

(vii)        Police Report is required for Lost Passport

(viii)        Letter of Non-Citizenship Status from the country you have lived for 5 years and more

  1. PHOTOGRAPHS

(i)          Must not have artificial colour in most cases caused by reflection of light.

(ii)         Must be of the correct size ie 3.5 x 4.5cm.

(iii)        Smaller photographs are not acceptable

(iv)      The background colour and the colour of clothes should not merge eg white on white background.

(v)        Size of the head must not dominate the photograph.

(vi)        INSTANT or POLAROID photographs are not acceptable.

(vii)       Must NOT be certified ie stamped at the back and signed as it affects the quality of the photograph.

Ensure details on all documents especially birth certificate and National I.D. tally ie spelling of names and the same names are on all documents in the same order.

 Finger prints and filling-in of forms will only be done at the Embassy on Tuesdays and Thursdays of every week from 9:00AM to 12:00PM and 2:00PM to 4:00PM.

 NB  For passport fees, please refer to the attached schedule.  Passport processing takes in excess of 3 to 4 months.

Please note that if any of your parents were not born in Zimbabwe, a letter of citizenship renunciation from an Embassy/High Commission of the country concerned, must accompany your application.  The letter must have been obtained by the 6th January 2002.  If not, then you must contact the Citizen Office in Zimbabwe on the following Tel No:  263-4-702295 or 706311.

Once an application for a pasport, has been processed by the Embassy, individual applicants are expected to send their application forms to a representative in Zimbabwe who will submit and collect the application at an office of the Registrar of Passports. To empower the representative to collect the passport, which is a security document, the applicant is required to write a letter to the Registrar-General authorising the representative to collect the passport on their behalf. The letter of authorisation should state the full names and national identity number of the representative.
